Facts:
Seventy to 90 percent of people with intellectual disabilities in the United States are estimated to be unemployed.
Special Olympics studies reveal that more than 60 percent of Americans don't believe that children with intellectual disabilities should be educated in their child's school.
In Texas, caregivers were recently found to be forcing residents of an institution to awake in the middle of the night and fight one another while staffers cheered and taunted.
My thoughts:
Well, in my opinion, it's not nice to say words like this but words are only words. They can't hurt you. I myself have used words like that, and just because it hurts someones feelings doesn't mean that, that will stop someone from saying it. We're humans, and it's been more then obivous that we don't care how what me do effects other people.
Has it Changed my Mind?:
In all honesty, no, I don't believe it has. I'm again (only human) so there will be times when I get mad or sad and let words like these slip out. Some people can't control what they say when they're emotional because some people are impulsive. I am. So my point is, words are words, I know they hurt but it's truem and no this articale has not swayed me. (I suppose I'm naturally hard headed).
