Lucretia Mott
Lucretia Mott was a woman rights leader who was born January 3, 1793 in Nantucket
Massachusetts. She was an outspoken woman who was born into a family of Quakers
so as you can imagine she was raised to be a very peaceful person. ( As most
Quakers are raised to be ) She was a leader the leaders of anti-slavery
and women’s rights movements across America. She became a Quaker minister
at the age of 21. She like many Quakers believed in peace and equality
so becoming a person who fights would only be natural- wouldn’t it?
She believed that African- Americans had (or should) have had just as much
freedom as anyone else ( this goes for women as well. ) . She was active
in abolishment in the United States before the Civil War broke out, she
was a helper in finding two anti- slavery groups (they were founded
thanks to her friend Sojourner Truth and Harriet Beecher Stowe
who were also fellow abolitionists. ).
She met and married her husband in 1811 his name was
James Mott. ( Which would explain a lot about her last name
wouldn’t it? )
Well Ms. Mott -or should I say Mrs. Mott didn’t stop there
She moved onto bigger and better things. She attended the World
Anti- Slavery Convention in London, France. The men who were
In charge of seating the guests refused to seat the women and others
That were there with Lucretia Mott. (This occurred in 1840)
Mrs. Mott responded by pledging and promising that she would do her
best to fight for women’s rights and the freedom of African- Americans.
Sometime after 1848 Lucretia spoke widely for both women’s rights
and the abolition of slavery. A reformer Elizabeth Cady Stanton and herself
organized the first women’s rights movement in 1848. In 1850 she spoke of
the economical, educational, and political restrictions of the women in
Europe and also in America. When slavery was abolished in 1865,
Mrs. Lucretia Mott started to advocate the right for African-Americans
to vote.
Now as you can see Lucrtiea Mott was associated with quite a few
other abolitionists on her journey of abolition for the abuse of women’s
rights and the freedom of African - Americans all over. A few of the
people she was associated with were : Elizabeth Cady Stanton ,
Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Beecher Stowe. These women
helped Ms. Mott in her journey of being an abolitionist,
they did have an impact on history but no as much of an impact
as Mrs. Lucretia Mott. Her impact on the American is greater than to be
thought of. She was a brave woman and at the young age of 21 she decided
to fight for what was right. Just because she attempted to get women their
rights and African – Americans their freedom. She fought diligently for their
freedom until that day in 1880 from anmophenea. This of course most have
effected the other reformers she worked with like- Elizabeth Cady Stanton,
Sojourner Truth, Harriet Beecher Stowe ( all were previously mentioned before)
as well as Susan B. Anthony and Julia Ward Howe.
Lucretia Mott left quite an impact on the citizens of America
if she hadn’t at least tried to abolish slavery and fight for women’s rights then
it is an strong doubt that anyone would have thought about the abolishment of
these things until much later or until it was too late altogether. Lucretia Mott tried
the best she could with the abolishment of slavery and women’s abuse and
even when slavery was abolished she kept fighting for bigger and better things.
She started to advocate the point that African – Americans should have the right to
Vote. He didn’t have to keep fighting but she did. She kept the fight up until the
The time she died. This was (as said before) a very tragic event.
America should never forget the impact she had on it. She fought for
Freedom- she fought for fairness- Mrs. Lucretia Mott fought for us.

How Stories Effect the Survial of Characters( revised version)
"Either you master the story or the story masters you.", this quote rings true in Animal Farm by George Orwell. Animal Farm by George Orwell in 1956 in England about the Russian rule at the time man named Stalin when (in all reality) a much nicer man named Trotsky was supposed to take over. In Animal Farm the way the characters master stories has a strong connection on how they survive in the story.
Characters who master the story can survive longer than those who can't die sooner. One who mastered the story in Animal Farm was Squealer. One way he mastered the story is that he always backed up Napoleons stories with "facts" ( these of course were made up facts ). Then there were times when he used he eloquence in speech to get the other animals to believe his "facts". First of all, he mastered a story when the milk was to be mixed in with the pigs slop. He said that the pigs needed the slop ( apples and milk to survive). He even told the other animals that the pigs need the milk and apples to survive and that it's for the good of the farm. Another time he mastered the story is when he lied about the hens little rebellion. He lied to the other animals and said that the hens died naturally of a horrible disease. Then he made up a disease called "coccidiliosis". Regardless of all of the lies he had spread you would think that he would have had a bad ending but actually in the end he turned out to be a powerful character that was thriving.
Now on the other hand Boxer was mastered by the story. He was mastered by the story becasuse he believed the lies that Napoleon made up. For example when Squealer and Napoleon made up the lie about how the chickens died he never questioned him once. He also was mastered by the story when Napoleon made it a nesscesity to have the mill built. He encouraged Napoleons rise to power futher when not only agreeing to help build the mill but also maiking up the motto "I will work harder". Yet another time he was mastered by the story was when he made up the motto "Napoleons always right". He made up this motto when Napoleon began to spread hislies. He encouraged this motto when Napoleon was lying about Snowball, at first Boxer didn't believe it, but that was when it was coming from Squealer. The second he heard that the rumors about why Snowball dissappered were from Napoleon he automatically believed them.
Yet another character in the story that could master a story was Napoleon. He mastered many stories by blaming the farms misfortunes on Snowball. He did this by convincing the other animals that Snowball for the destruction of the mill. Then he even blamed missing food on Snowball, he took food to make it look like there was some missing. He mastered the story yet again when Snowball got chased out. He said that Snowball was staying at a neighboring farm and that he was trading with humans. He also said that Snowball was on Jones side and that he wanted to put a stop to Animal Farm. But even if Napoleon did lie to the other animals he still ended up to be the most powerful animals at the farm because of his ability to master a story.
In Animal Farm, the ability to survive depends completely on how the characters master stories. (This is obviously true). Squealer was able to master a story and ended up thriving. Boxer couldn't and he died. Napoleon could and ended up the most powerful animal on the farm. Obviously stories hold an effect on people: " Either you master the story or the story masters you". Whether someone masters the story is a personal decision. ( and it will always remain that way.

Ms. Melvilles paragraph
Who's Responsible- animals or pigs?
The honestt way to go is to say that the animals are most responsible for the pigs rise to power. I say this because first off they allowed te pigs to push them around. They allowed Napoleon to chase Snowball out of the farm (they watched as if they couldn't do anything!). They let Napoleon take control the second Snowball was gone and didn't even question it. Another way tey let Napoleon rise to power is by letting him blame Snowball for everything bad that happened. They also used Snowball as an excuse for not getting in trouble.
The final way the animals let the pigs rise to power is by letting them use those dog as a threat.Napoleon had used the dogs as a threat when one of the animals (can't remember who) tried to reject to snowball getting cahsed out of the farm. He also used them as a threat when he walked aruond the farm- the dogs were surrounding him like body guards. So it is obviously my opinion that it i the animals fault for the pigs rise to power.

I'm reading a book called Skull Session, the author is Daniel Hetch, now it may not seem like alot for a couple months of reading, but because the print is soooooo small it takes me (because of my eyesight) an hour to read 2 pages! Anyway I'm on page 12.

English Melville
Connel, in"The Most Dangerous Game", shows how the hunted would feel in the situation of the hunter and the hunted, which leads me to believe that Connel values equality. In "The Most Dangerous Game", he showed how the hunted animal would feel while being hunted. He also had the main character feel "what it was like to be an animal being hunted." Second, he showed both sides of the story(so it was equally shown!)-liberty and its' opposite equality. He had Whitney sayhunting is best "For the hunter","not the jaguar", by making Whitney say tis he is showing equality. HEhas shown liberty by having Rainsford (back to Whitney) say "Dont talk rot Whitney.", "You're a big game hunter, not a philosopher, who cares what the jaguar feels!" Third he focused mainly on equaity. In the text he focsed mainly on equality becausehe wrote sa story like this one. He also put the main character in the shoes of the hunted, that eventually changed the main character for the better- for Equality!
